Charlie Forde: From Saving Animals to Dominating the Adult Industry (Exclusive Interview)

Before she was an AVN-nominated adult star, Charlie Forde was saving lives—but not in the way you’d expect.

Charlie Forde has lived two very different lives. A part-time veterinary nurse and Australia’s Best Female Porn Star of 2022, she has climbed the ranks of the adult industry while juggling her passion for animal care. The 34-year-old Australian made waves as a three-time AVN award nominee, a director, and a performer, moving to the U.S. in 2023 to take her career global.

Before she became a well-known name in adult entertainment, Charlie had dabbled in mainstream film, landing small extra roles and appearing in a music video. But it was in adult cinema where she truly thrived. Her own company’s productions have been featured at film festivals worldwide, including CineKink 2023 and SFPFF 2022 & 2023.

With 18 nominations between XMA (XBIZ) and AVN and a recent debut as a director for Adult Time, Charlie continues to push boundaries. In this exclusive OnlyNews interview, she reveals how she went from vet school to adult stardom, her biggest challenges, and what’s next.

Charlie’s entrance into the industry wasn’t driven by fame or fantasy—it was a necessity. Juggling vet school and multiple jobs, she needed a way to support herself, and adult entertainment became the unexpected answer.

“I entered the adult industry while paying my way through veterinary school. Once I graduated, I started my own porn company because there were not many opportunities available in Australia. I then worked full-time hours for my emergency center vet clinic, on top of full-time hours for my production company. My company did well and was nominated for international AVN awards, and has been shown in a film festival every year it’s been in existence.”

A Director’s Eye for Storytelling

Making the jump from Australia to the U.S. adult scene was a major shift but one that set her on the path to bigger opportunities, high-profile collaborations, and creative control over her work.

“I was recommended to Mark Spiegler via people that I met through Europe, who took me under his wing, and I moved to the US to begin working professionally as a porn performer.”

Filmmaking was always at the heart of Charlie’s ambitions. While many content creators focus on quick, viral clips, she was drawn to cinematic storytelling, building her brand around narrative-driven films and visually striking productions.

“I am a sucker for a good storyline that builds tension, and so my films have a heavy focus on storyline. That being said, I also have beautiful cinematic gonzo videos. My mood changes often as far as what I feel like creating and if it’s light and feminine or dark and moody, but the creative process itself is lengthy as I find a location that’s OK with porn being shot at it, choosing the underlying vibe and matching music to the video, and I am very pedantic in my editing process. Luckily, I have the best team to help me create work that I’m very proud of.”

Between scouting locations, planning themes, and obsessing over editing details, Charlie’s work stands out in a crowded industry. 

“I’m too busy to have a regular routine, as I’m often working for other companies while also working for myself. I have to be religious with blocking out my calendar if I’m going to fit everything in!

Charlie doesn’t just build films—she builds connections. Unlike many creators who focus solely on numbers, she genuinely values her fans, making time to engage with them on a personal level.

“I treat all of my fans as friends first and foremost and paying customers second. I like to know what’s happening in their life just as much as they want to know what I have going on. My most memorable interaction was when someone gifted me with $10,000. That was very special.”

Work Hard, Switch Off

Balancing a high-demand career with a personal life isn’t easy, but Charlie has found a system that works. When the cameras turn off, she fully disconnects, keeping her private world separate from her public persona.

“I am very aware that when I close my laptop down at the end of a day, I am focused on my personal life. My partners in the past did not see me work because when I was with them, I was focused on being with them, and that’s very important to me. It’s also important to have time away from the industry regardless, as so much of my life encompasses it. I think having a set start and end time for your work day is very important.”

While many creators struggle with burnout, Charlie has learned how to keep her work from consuming her entire life. This discipline keeps her grounded and ensures she continues creating at the highest level.

“Sometimes I’m prepared to work late, but when I choose to switch off, I’m doing so for the rest of the night. I also make sure to pursue hobbies in the little downtime I have.”

Seeing her company’s name listed alongside some of the biggest brands in adult entertainment was a defining moment in Charlie’s career. Competing with top-tier studios proved that her work wasn’t just popular—it was respected.

“My company has a lot of moving parts at this point, and I take a lot of the responsibility for it, but having a team that you trust to manage the parts that you aren’t the most qualified to do is really important.”

Her commitment to excellence continues to push her career forward, bringing new opportunities in both acting and directing.

“My proudest moment so far was being nominated for international AVN awards before I had even moved to the US. That was a phenomenal achievement to see my company’s name up against the likes of Vixen.”

The next chapter for Charlie includes big projects, bold moves, and a return to the director’s chair. She’s planning her most ambitious film yet and looking into new ways to fund her work.

Beyond her work, Charlie has lived a life full of surprises. Before she was in front of the camera, she was a physiotherapist in intensive care, an experience that gave her a very different perspective on life.

“I used to be a physiotherapist and worked in intensive care and acute care units. I have told a lot of my secrets already, so I don’t think there’s much I have kept from my fans!”

New Projects, New Ambitions, and No Limits

With a busy schedule and major projects on the horizon, Charlie is gearing up for one of her biggest years yet. Fans can expect a bold new feature film and more directing gigs with top studios.

“I am hoping to shoot a very dark feature for my site this year; it is in the planning stages now, and I’ll likely start a Patreon account to help fund it. I’m also working on starting to direct for one or two more companies this year if I can! I’ve already been booked for a feature for Adulttime this year also, so they can look forward to seeing me in a very authoritative position very soon.”
